Bears RBs taking a beating

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Led by D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, the Chicago Bears like their depth at running back. Health is an issue at the moment.
Monangai is week to week with a leg injury after he got hurt during practice on Aug. 16. Swift departed Thursday's padded practice with a trainer.
Coming off their first NFC North title since 2018, the Bears visit the Carolina Panthers for their season opener on Sept. 13.
Swift was holding his left side when he left the field after a nice run in hot and muggy conditions. There was no word from the team on his departure.
Beyond Swift and Monangai, the Bears also have Roschon Johnson, Salvon Ahmed and Zavier Scott at running back.
Just football
INDIANAPOLIS -- Receiver Keenan Allen and quarterback Anthony Richardson tried to keep Thursday's talk centered on football.
It wasn't easy in light of Allen's recent arrest on drunken driving charges or Richardson's standing trade request. Both still sound content to be with the Indianapolis Colts, preparing for the Sept. 13 season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
Though Colts coach Shane Steichen remained mum about Allen's arrest, he wasted no time in declaring Richardson the top backup to Daniel Jones for the second straight year. This time he beat out second-year quarterback Riley Leonard.
Investigation done
An investigation by The Athletic has concluded that former NFL reporter Dianna Russini violated the company's standards because of her relationship with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel that led to her resignation in April.
The report drew no conclusions about the nature of Russini's relationship with Vrabel, who took accountability for his actions without ever addressing photos released of the coach and the reporter at an Arizona resort.
He stepped away from the team on the third day of the NFL draft to begin counseling and then returned to the team after that.
