PGA donates generous gift
ATLANTA -- Former PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem and his wife are donating $13 million to PGA Tour Charities as the tour reshapes its charity strategy amid so much attention on profit and earnings.
The contribution is seen as a catalyst for launching a new strategy geared toward connecting charitable contributions with national campaigns.
That doesn't change how each tournament handles charitable work locally.
Lucas Glover is leading a committee of players on the program. Glover says with so much talk about money, the tour needs to return emphasis on a charity machine that has generated $4.4 billion over the years.
The PGA Tour long has been the charitable leader in sports with a mechanism that has enabled its tournaments to generate more than $4.4 billion in donations.
