INDIANAPOLIS -- Caitlin Clark became the fastest WNBA player to reach 200 career 3-pointers in the second quarter of Indiana's game against Seattle on Friday night.
Clark reached the milestone with a 26-footer on an assist from Tyasha Harris with 7:29 left before halftime.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year reached 200 made 3s in her 74th game, beating the previous mark of 81 games by Katie Smith with Minnesota from 1999-2001.
Clements takes lead
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic -- Todd Clements birdied four of the last six holes for a 6-under 66 and a two-stroke lead Friday in the windy Corales Puntacana Championship.
The 29-year-old Englishman is one of 50 European tour players in the field for the co-sanctioned event played opposite the British Open.
"Just going to keep trying to do the same things," Clements said. "The field has some great players out here and I know golf does some funny things. It's just about continuing to do what I do and controlling what I'm trying to control and get out there and see if we can do the same job."
He closed with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-3 ninth to get to 13-under 131.
"Read it well and just went in the right speed so I was delighted to see that one drop," Clements said. "Overall, it was great day."
Flyers agree with Drysdale
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers agreed to terms with defenseman Jamie Drysdale on a four-year contract worth $26 million.
Drysdale will count $6.5 million against the salary cap through the 2029-30 NHL season.
"We're excited to have Jamie remain a key part of our organization for years to come," Flyers general manager Daniel Briere said in a statement on Friday. "Since we acquired him, Jamie has worked extremely hard and taken big steps in his development, and has established himself as a reliable piece on our back end with the ability to impact the game in all situations. We believe his best hockey is still ahead of him, and he's going to play an important role in strengthening our blue line as we continue to build."
The 24-year-old Drysdale had a career-high eight goals, including three game-winners, and matched his career best with 32 points in his second full season with Philadelphia. He averaged more than 21 minutes of ice time over 78 regular-season games to help the Flyers make the playoffs.
Drysdale became the fifth defenseman in franchise history to score in his first postseason game and finished with two goals and two assists in 10 games.
Cricket great Sobers dies
Garry Sobers, the graceful West Indian cricketer whose world-record test innings of 365 not out as a 21-year-old set him on the path to becoming arguably the sport's greatest allrounder, has died. He was 89.
West Indies' cricket federation announced his death on Friday without providing a cause.
"In the story of cricket, there are great players. There are champions. Then, there are those rare individuals who redefine the very meaning of greatness," said Kishore Shallow, president of Cricket West Indies.
