The Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes are one of four teams that will have their game telecasts produced and distributed by the NHL for the upcoming season.
The league announced Tuesday that the Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues will also have local broadcasts done by NHL Productions when the season begins in late September. The NHL is branching out into centralized production of local telecasts because regional sports networks are disappearing.
Seven franchises had agreements last season with Main Street Sports, which went out of business at the end of the season.
'Dogs RB hurt off campus
TAMPA, Fla. -- Georgia running back Dante Dowdell was injured in a recent off-campus accident, and Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart told reporters Tuesday at SEC media days that he will be indefinitely sidelined.
Smart didn't offer specifics. ESPN reported that Dowdell was involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident. The outlet confirmed with Smart that Dowdell is receiving care at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a medical facility specializing in treatment and rehabilitation for spinal cord and brain injuries.
Dowdell transferred to Georgia after rushing for 560 yards and three scores last season for Kentucky. The tailback from Picayune, Mississippi, spent the 2024 season with Nebraska and the '23 season at Oregon.
