Penn State Altoona men’s swimming gets four conference all-stars
Four Penn State Altoona men’s swimming student-athletes earned spots on the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference team, thanks to their performances in the conference championship meet last month.
All-SUNYAC swimmers are determined by their finishes during the conference championships, which were held Feb. 18-21 in Buffalo. Swimmers clinch spots on the all-conference team by finishing among the top three places in events.
Lions senior Caden Traggiai and freshman Pedro Teran were first-team All-SUNYAC swimmers, while senior Adam Dotts and sophomore Shuo Sun took spots on the second team.
Traggiai clinched his spot on the first team when he won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:16.80, a mark that also set a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record in that event. Teran’s first-team status was earned when he placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.03.
Dotts and Sun made the second team when they helped the Lions to a runner-up finish in the 800 freestyle relay, partnering with Traggiai and Teran to compile a total time of 7:01.16 to take second place. That time also set a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record for that event.
For the Penn State Altoona women’s swimming team, freshman Victoria Oldford earned a spot on the third team.
Oldford clinched her spot when she came in third place in the 100 breaststroke. The freshman finished the race in 1:08.82, a time that set a new Penn State Altoona women’s swimming record.
The PSU Altoona women’s swimming team placed fifth in the team standings.
