50 years ago — Jan. 21, 1976: In high school boys basketball, Bishop Guilfoyle edged Bishop Carroll, 52-49, at Carroll with Dean Adams the only BG player in double figures with 10. The BG jayvees, previously undefeated at 15-0, fell 49-47, with Bill Karnes scoring 15.

25 years ago — Jan. 21, 2001: The Hollidaysburg girls (11-2) downed Altoona (8-5), 40-34, in high school basketball play at the AAHS Fieldhouse. Lauren Lingenfelter had 18 points and 19 rebounds — Lady Tiger coach Jeff Appleman said he ran out of space on the scoresheet for her rebounds.

10 years ago — Jan. 21, 2016: The Hollidaysburg Area High boys swim team (10-0) and girls swim team (7-2) beat Altoona in Central Western Aquatics Athletic Conference competition at the Hollidaysburg pool. Hollidaysburg’s Madison Clapper won one solo event and three relays for the girls and Colten West did the same for the boys.
