PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles are moving on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Coach Nick Sirianni announced Tuesday that he's going in a different direction after one year with Patullo calling plays.
The Eagles (11-7) lost OC Kellen Moore after winning the Super Bowl in 2025 -- Moore took the head job in New Orleans -- and turned to Patullo to maintain familiarity and continuity for quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley and receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Patullo had been the Eagles' passing game coordinator since 2021.
But the in-house move failed to pan out. Philadelphia seemed out of sync most of the season, finishing 24th in total offense at 311.2 yards a game and 19th in scoring at 22.3 points a game.
"I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision," Sirianni said in a statement. "He is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team's success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization."
Now the Eagles will have a fifth different offensive coordinator in Sirianni's six seasons, with the next one following Patullo, Moore, Brian Johnson (2023) and Shane Steichen (2021-22).
There's a chance
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers are opening the practice window for linebacker Fred Warner, hoping he can return if they reach the NFC title game.
Warner has been out since October with a broken and dislocated ankle, initially described as a season-ending injury. He has been rehabbing and even ran on a side field last week.
A little thin
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills are down a second receiver in two days after coach Sean McDermott revealed Tyrell Shavers is out after tearing a knee ligament.
Shavers was hurt during a special teams play in the first half of Buffalo's 27-24 wild-card playoff win at Jacksonville. He then played through the injury and finished with a 14-yard catch. The news on Shavers comes a day after McDermott announced receiver Gabe Davis tore a ligament in his left knee against Jacksonville. The injuries leave Buffalo with just three receivers on the active roster.
Chargers fire OC
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Chargers fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman and offensive line coach Mike Devlin on Tuesday, two days after the team lost 16-3 to the New England Patriots in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Roman spent two seasons as the Chargers' OC after previously holding the position with the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Los Angeles posted back-to-back 11-6 seasons but lost its playoff opener each time, scoring a total of 15 points in the two games.
The Chargers haven't won a postseason game since 2018. Quarterback Justin Herbert is 0-3 in the playoffs for his career.
