Lady Mustangs pick up impressive road win

Girls basketball

BLAIRSVILLE — Trailing 30-17 at halftime, the Portage girls basketball team turned it up a notch, outsourcing River Valley 24-0 in the third quarter in a 52-45 victory in high school action.

The Lady Mustangs (9-6) got a career-high 13 points from sophomore Mya Burda to go with 13 points from Kendall Bednarski, plus a game-high 17 points from Britton Myher.

River Valley (9-6) received 15 points from Maddie Twinchek to go with 13 points each from Alyssia Lamantia and Kennedy Cole.

MOUNT UNION — Juniata Valley jumped out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead en route to a 48-18 win over Mount Union Thursday night in high school play.

Aubrey Anderson led JV (10-4) with 16 points, eight assists and four steals. Teammate Anna Taylor added 11 points.

The Trojans (2-12) got eight points from Lily House.
