Penn State adds QB coach

Waters

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State has announced the addition of a new quarterbacks coach for the 2026 season.

Jake Waters will handle the position.

Waters joins the Nittany Lions following six years on the Iowa State staff under Matt Campbell, including the last two seasons as quarterbacks coach.

A former quarterback at Kansas State, Waters tutored quarterback Rocco Becht in 2024 and 2025, who has started 39 straight games at quarterback for Iowa State, the longest active streak among Big 12 quarterbacks and fourth-longest in the nation among quarterbacks.

Waters is the fifth position coach to follow Campbell from Iowa State.

The others, previously reported, include Noah Pauley (wide receivers), Taylor Mouser (offensive coordinator, tight ends), Ryan Clanton (offensive line) and Deon Broomfield (secondary).

Campbell has also brought seven members of his support staff, including his strength and conditioning and personnel staff, from Iowa State.

Also Thursday, Penn State redshirt junior offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane picked up this third All-American nod this season as he was named FWAA All-America second-team on Thursday.

The Nittany Lions are currently preparing to play Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City on Saturday, Dec. 27, against Clemson. Kickoff is slated for noon.

Starting at $2.99/week.
