CLAYSBURG — In a match that featured just four contested individual matches, Northern Bedford edged Claysburg-Kimmel, 36-34, with the help of a fall by Jordan Free at 215 pounds and five forfeit wins, Thursday night in high school wrestling.

Claysburg received three forfeit wins, along with falls from Trevor Frazier and Rylan Quarello and a major decision victory for Blaide Weyandt.

Lady Panthes cruise

LOYSBURG — The Northern Bedford girls basketball team jumped out to a 19-6 first-quarter lead Thursday night en route to a 42-17 win over Forbes Road in high school action.

The Lady Panthers (5-1) got 10 points each from Halle Baker and Amberly Detterline.

The Lady Cardinals (0-3) were led by Sydney Gelvin with seven points.

Huskies fall

NEW PARIS — The Bishop Carroll High School rifle team fell to 2-1 Thursday, losing at Chestnut Ridge, 1,302-1,117 in local action.

The Huskies were led by Alena Nagle’s 262, followed by a 244 from Eli Cunningham.

The Colts got a 278 from Greg Carl and a 270 from Jolynn Mickle.
