FRISCO, Texas — CeeDee Lamb appears set to return from a concussion without missing a game for the Dallas Cowboys, who will play Minnesota at home 10 days after their star receiver exited a loss in Detroit.
Lamb was a full practice participant and talked to reporters Thursday, two strong signs he will be on the field Sunday night without missing a game as the Cowboys (6-6-1) try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Dallas trails Philadelphia by 1 1/2 games with four to play in the NFC East, while the Vikings (5-8) are on the verge of postseason elimination.
The 2023 All-Pro said he was still technically in concussion protocol.
“It’s been a lot of like eye work and eye discipline and trying to, I guess, frustrate myself essentially to see if I have any more residuals of the concussion,” Lamb said.
Lamb was injured in the second half of a 44-30 loss to the Lions on Dec. 4 when his helmet hit the turf hard out of bounds on his attempt at a leaping catch in the end zone.
The 26-year-old appeared to experience the unnatural extension of the forearms and fingers, a neurological reaction in the seconds after head trauma known as the fencing response. Quarterback Dak Prescott rushed to his side, and owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show a day later that the scene of the prone Lamb scared him.
Fins injury report
The Miami Dolphins had their longest injury report in a few weeks as they began their preparations for the Week 15 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Monday night.
The Dolphins had a list of 12 players on that injury report, though tight end Darren Waller was on there (listed as limited) once again because of rest as the team continues to manage his work load to keep him available through the regular season.
The biggest name on the injury report was running back De’Von Achane, who as head coach Mike McDaniel indicated before practice was limited because of the rib injury he sustained in the 34-10 victory against the New York Jets on Sunday.
He rushed for 92 yards in the first half against the Jets. Backup Jaylen Wright replaced him in the second half and finished with 107 yards rushing and his first NFL touchdown.
The two new names on the injury report were long-snapper Joe Cardona (hamstring) and outside linebacker Chop Robinson (oblique), both of whom were limited participant in practice. As always, the questions with new players on the injury report is whether they were injured in practice or from game action.
Jones staying put
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a three-year contract extension with defensive lineman Travis Jones.
The Ravens announced the deal Thursday. The 26-year-old Jones has started 27 games for the Ravens since the start of last season.
Jones became even more important to the interior of Baltimore’s defensive front when the Ravens lost Nnamdi Madubuike to a season-ending neck injury. Madubuike’s future is now unclear, but Baltimore is keeping Jones in the fold.
The Ravens may have some tough decisions to make after this season, but since the end of last season, they’ve re-signed tackle Ronnie Stanley and reached deals on extensions with Jones, tight end Mark Andrews, safety Kyle Hamilton and running back Derrick Henry.
Thanks for playing
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos waived 41-year-old Marcedes Lewis, the oldest tight end to play in an NFL game. Lewis made his Denver debut last month in Houston.
He played in four games as a blocker but didn’t catch any passes. Lewis was on the practice squad and was out of game-day elevations.
The Broncos might be preparing their practice squad for changes as guard Ben Powers returns to practice. Lewis became the oldest player in franchise history and the second-oldest active player in the NFL.
He was a first-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006.
Bad news in Cincy
CINCINNATI — Trey Hendrickson was placed on injured reserve by the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, ending his season.
The All-Pro defensive end will undergo core muscle surgery. He has missed six games this season, including the last five, due to a hip/pelvis injury.
The move to injured reserve finishes a frustrating season for Hendrickson, who led the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season. He is in the final year of a restructured contract worth $29 million after holding out during training camp.
In seven games this year, Hendrickson, who will be a free agent in 2026, had 16 tackles and four sacks.
