College football

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State redshirt junior offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane and senior running back Kaytron Allen were recognized on Monday as All-Americans by the Associated Press for the play this season.

Ioane was a second-team pick. Allen was a third-team pick.

Ioane has played in 44 games at Penn State, 32 of them starters. According to Pro Football Focus, he has allowed zero sacks and only three pressures in 310 pass blocking snaps in 2025. He earned first-team All-Big Ten honors by the media and second-team status from the coaches.

With his 4,180 yards, Allen became the all-time career rushing yards leader at Penn State in a game against Nebraska this season. In a game against Rutgers, he became the 23rd Big Ten player to reach the 4,000-yards rushing mark. He is one of just nine Nittany Lion running backs ever with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He sits fifth all-time at Penn State with 4,711 career all-purpose yards.

For Penn State, the program has had an All-American in 53 of the last 59 years.

n Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is entering the transfer portal. Lagway announced his intentions on social media. The oft-injured Lagway completed 63% of his passes this season for 2,264 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He missed most of the offseason program while recovering from core-muscle surgery, a sore throwing arm and a strained calf. Two other quarterbacks also revealed Monday they are moving on. According to multiple media outlets, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola plans to enter the portal. And Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby announced on social media he is entering the portal.

n Michigan interim football coach Biff Poggi had a Zoom call with the program’s signees and their parents just hours after Sherrone Moore was fired last week. It was reported that Poggi told the players and their parents that athletic director Warde Manuel hoped to have a new coach hired by the end of the month. Moore’s firing has left the Wolverines scrambling to retain recruits and to give current players reasons to stay out of the transfer portal.

Starting at $2.99/week.
