SFU collects another win

LORETTO — The Saint Francis women’s basketball team moved over .500 in the Northeast Conference with a 63-54 victory over Long Island on Saturday at DeGol Arena.

Airah Lavy scored 14 points, Marissa Shelton added 13 points and Julianna Gibson contributed 12 points for the Red Flash.

“We’re really proud of our team today for pushing through throughout the game,” SFU coach Keila Whittington said.

Gibson and Yanessa Boyd each led the Red Flash with six rebounds. Boyd also gained five assists.

“I just came into the game with a lot of confidence,” Lavy said. “I knew they wouldn’t be able to match up with me in transition. So I just ran my lane and Ineivi always finds me on the break.”
