Golden Tigers take care of Tyrone, Bedford during tri-meet

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Both the Hollidaysburg boys and girls swept Tyrone and Bedford in a high school cross country tri-meet on Wednesday.

Reuben Manfred, Sebastian Diaz and Yvan Chen finished 1-2-3 as the Hollidaysburg boys beat Tyrone, 17-46, and Bedford, 16-47. The Bedford boys edged Tyrone, 26-29.

Rylan Carney and Katie Etters placed second and third for the Lady Tigers, who beat Tyrone, 15-48, and Bedford, 22-35. Chloe May won the girls race in a course record time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds for Bedford, which topped Tyrone, 16-47.

Altoona teams win

Andrew Quinn and Dean Sunderland finished 1-2 to help the Altoona boys top Mifflin County, 24-31, at the Logan Elementary School course.

Camdyn Woomer placed fourth for the Mountain Lions.

Ashlyn Noce, Mary Stoltz and Gracie Gioiosa finished 1-23 to lead the Altoona girls to a 15-55 win.

LILLY -- Central Cambria swept its way past Chestnut Ridge and Bald Eagle Area in a Laurel Highlands tri-meet at Lilly War Memorial Park.

Dom Kuntz, Ethan Haycisak and Reed Takacs finished 1-2-3 to lead the CC boys over Ridge, 15-38, and BEA, 15-50. The Ridge boys topped BEA, 15-50.

Abigail Sheehan, Paige Alexander and Alaina Sheehan finished 1-2-3 to lead the CC girls over Ridge, 15-50, and BEA, 15-50. The Ridge girls edged BEA, 25-31.

SOMERSET -- The Bellwood-Antis girls beat Bishop Carroll, 25-30, and Somerset, 23-34, as Blake Pennington finished third, and Julie Kraft was fourth.

Ava Pablic finished second for the BC girls, who beat Somerset, 24-31.

The Bellwood boys lost to BC, 26-29, and Somerset, 27-28, while the BC boys fell to Somerset, 27-28. BC's Joe Phillips finished third.

Berkhimer wins race

MARTINSBURG -- Central's Lanee Berkhimer won the girls race in 19:31 in a meet with Richland, Clearfield, Philipsburg-Osceola and Foundations Christian Academy.

Central beat FCA, 15-21, but fell to Richland, 15-50, and P-O, 15-50. The Richland girls beat Clearfield, 26-30 and P-O, 15-48.

The Central boys lost to Richland and P-O by 15-50 scores but beat FCA, 6-14. The P-O boys topped Richland, 28-29, and FCA, 15-50, and Clearfield topped Richland, 28-29.

WINDBER -- The Portage girls defeated Mount Union, 25-41, and Williamsburg, 23-32, but lost to Windber, 25-30, and the Portage boys topped Ferndale, 26-29, but fell to Windber, 16-39, Williamsburg, 27-28, and Mount Union, 18-39.

In other girls scores, Windber beat Williamsburg, 22-35, and Mount Union, 27-28, and Williamsburg beat Mount Union, 16-20.

In other boys scores, Williamsburg beat Ferndale, 21-34, but lost to Mount Union, 22-36; Windber beat Ferndale, 20-38, and Northern Bedford, 17-38, but lost 26-29 to Mount Union, which also beat Ferndale, 19-41.

Ava Dixon of Williamsburg won the girls race, followed by Northern Bedford's Savanna Hershberger.
