Lady Huskie earns LHAC golf title

3 min read

EBENSBURG -- Bishop Carroll junior Sarah Miller, a junior transfer from Conemaugh Valley, shot a 78 to win the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference's girls golf championship at Ebensburg Country Club on Thursday.

"I'm very impressed with her performance today," Bishop Carroll coach Tim Holtz said. "She absolutely killed it tee-to-green. She was straight off the tee and worked the ball where she needed to on her approach shots. The chipping and putting was there."

The 78 was Miller's lowest high school round.

"She has been shooting in the low 80s and flirting with breaking 80," Holtz said. "This was the first day she did it. I'm very impressed and very happy for her."

Because Miller transferred schools, she's ineligible to play in this year's District 6 championship tournament.

"Due to eligibility rules, she has to wait a year," Holtz said. "This kind of set the tone for her year due to her being unable to compete at the district level. She's kind of bummed on that note, but at the end of the day, she's super stoked to end her season as the LHAC champion."

Hollidaysburg sophomore Crosby Denis finished second three strokes back with an 81, and her teammate Maliah Malausky was third with an 85. Hollidaysburg's Lexi Peacock rounded out the top five with a 90.

Bishop Carroll's Kylee Yoder finished ninth with a 97.

Bishop Guilfoyle Academy's Ellie Wilson shot a 98 to finish tied for 10th, and Jazmine Boland was Central Cambria's top finisher with a 99 that helped her finish 12th.
