PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins signed defenseman Sebastian Aho to a two-year contract, it was announced Tuesday by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas.
The contract runs through the 2025-26 campaign and carries an average annual value of $775,000.
Aho, 28, has played parts of five seasons in the NHL, all with the New York Islanders. He's suited up for 190 regular-season games and recorded 11 goals, 39 assists and 50 points. His best season came in 2022-23 when he set career highs in games played (71), goals (5), assists (18), points (23) and plus/minus (+9).
Since free agency began Monday, the Penguins also signed the following to one-year deals: forwards Emil Bemstrom, Blake Lizotte, Bokondji Imama, Jimmy Huntington and Anthony Beauvillier, and defensemen Nathan Clurman, Matt Grzelcyk, Ryan Shea and Mac Hollowell.
The Penguins also acquired forward Bennett MacArthur from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Lukas Svejkovsky and acquired forward Kevin Hayes and a 2025 second-round draft pick of St. Louis from the Blues in exchange for future considerations.
On Wednesday, the Penguins announced their 2024 development camp roster, which will be held from July 6-10 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
Forty-eight prospects will convene for the five-day camp, which features on-ice sessions each day.
All six of Pittsburgh's 2024 draft picks -- Harrison Brunicke (second round, 44th overall), Tanner Howe (second round, 46th overall), Chase Pietila (fourth round, 111th overall), Joona Vaisanen (sixth round, 175th overall), Mac Swanson (seventh round, 207th overall) and Finn Harding (seventh round, 223rd overall) -- will be attending the camp.
