Hall missed chance to honor Rusnak
On this sunny spring day, we will pay our last respects to coach Marty Rusnak.
There will be former wrestlers, students, friends and family members present to remember the man who left a lifetime impression on all of us.
Altoona Mirror writer John Hartsock wrote a fitting tribute to the "Legendary coach" published on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
That article and his beautiful obituary published in the Mirror captured the life and impact Coach Rusnak made in his 81 years as father, husband, teacher, friend and coach.
As a former wrestler under Coach Rusnak, I think I can speak for many of us. The life lessons, work ethic and tenacity he instilled have positively impacted our lives.
The Altoona Mirror article spoke of his many accomplishments and recognitions he received.
Some of which included the National High School Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the District 6 Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately, our local Blair County Sports Hall of Fame is not among his long list of awards and recognition. Missed opportunity?
Perhaps next time he will be offered his rightful place among the other Blair County Sports Hall of Fame inductees.
R.I.P. Coach. Thanks for everything. You will be missed.

Auto racing results appreciated
Thanks to the Mirror for putting racing stories in the sports section.
There are many motor racing fans in this area, too.
We have to travel to see some races, as this area is lacking in tracks. Motor sports gets our heart racing.
