worthy of recognition
I am writing to show my appreciation to a man who has covered area sports for the last 40 years on radio, television and as a public-address announcer.
That man is Rich DeLeo.
Rich covered Altoona Area High School basketball in the beginning of his career and now is known as the voice of Bishop Guilfoyle football and basketball.
In between, he has been the PA announcer for the Altoona Curve and Saint Francis basketball.
He has a weekly television sports show and has hosted radio shows in the past.
The energy and enthusiasm Rich brings to these jobs is outstanding.
I would like to see him considered for the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame and the Bishop Guilfoyle Ring of Honor.
As the voice of Blair County sports, he has been the best ever.

Franklin keeps passing off blame
James Franklin never ceases to amaze me.
His message to the coordinators, as reported in Wednesday's Mirror: "I think you better have enough flexibility to play to the strength of our roster."
Wow. Had he done that with Christian Hackenberg, things could have been much better his last year. It has always been his way while ignoring the strength of his roster.
And then he goes on to dump on Mike Yurcich again. Wasn't Franklin the head coach? If he didn't like the 11 personnel, why didn't he have Yurcich change it before it was too late?
This guy has never been a leader and never will be.
He constantly looks for ways to set others up for failure without ever accepting any responsibility or blame.
