Pens struggle on the road
SEATTLE -- The Seattle Kraken kept the Pittsburgh Penguins sliding on Saturday night.
Jordan Eberle scored midway through the second period after Seattle had two goals disallowed by challenges, Morgan Geekie scored late in the second and the Kraken beat Pittsburgh 3-1 for the Penguins' fourth straight loss.
Jake Guentzel scored on a breakaway midway through the second period and Casey DeSmith had 27 saves, but Pittsburgh's road trip concluded with a thud.
The Penguins lost three straight in Western Canada before closing out its road swing against the Kraken. Pittsburgh was outscored 15-5 in losses in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
"Guys are discouraged. They're proud guys. They care about winning. And when you go through times like this, everybody feels it because they care. We all do," Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said.
Royals hire Quatraro
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Royals hired Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro as manager Sunday night, turning over the young core of a rebuilding franchise to a forward-thinking manager with experience winning in a small market.
Quatraro replaces Mike Matheny, who was fired after a 65-97 finish.
LIV: Johnson leads team
DORAL, Fla. -- Dustin Johnson drove the green on the 370-yard par-4 16th to set up an easy birdie that provided a bit of breathing room, Patrick Reed birdied his last hole to put their squad ahead for good and 4Aces GC captured the season-ending LIV Golf team championship at Trump National Doral on Sunday by one shot over Cameron Smith and Punch GC.
