Adding more names

to Mo Valley's 'cradle'

The Aug. 6 article, "Cradle of high school coaches," which spotlighted the many head coaches from the Moshannon Valley School District, was interesting and very well written.

One coach who should have been included is former Glendale High School head football coach John Lloyd.

Coach Lloyd was from Ramey and one of his longtime assistant coaches, George Mills, was from Houtzdale.

Both men played high school football in the Moshannon Valley School District.

Together, with the late Tom Terza, they coached the Glendale Vikings football team to many successful seasons.

Not only did they coach the sport of football, they helped to develop the skill of preparedness, sportsmanship, loyalty and teamwork.

I still look back at my high school years playing football at Glendale High School and appreciate what these men taught, on and off the field, to help prepare many young men for adulthood.
