MLB needs to embrace
technology behind plate
I'm sitting here watching Sunday Night Baseball (April 24).
What an embarrassment to the game this home plate umpire, Angel Hernandez, is.
It's interesting, amazing and unbelievable that Major League Baseball continues to permit the ineptness of incompetent umpires to call balls and strikes.
It is clearly obvious that some umpires are unable to accurately call balls and strikes.
Factually, these umpires literally make their own strike zones. Why does this continue to be acceptable to the league?
As I said in an article last baseball season, the game is not about the umpires.
Why do hitters and pitchers have to make adjustments for the errors of the umpires whose job it is to get it right?
The ineptness and unfairness of umpires calling balls and strikes needs to stop. Let's do what's right and get it right.
Pitchers and catchers now have the availability of a device that allows for communication from the catcher to the pitcher as to the desired forthcoming pitch.
This very system can be adapted to do the same thing for home plate umpires when identifying balls and strikes. And it can be done without interruption to the game.
Thus, it will eliminate players and managers being improperly ejected from games for the mistakes of incompetent umpires.
Let's get off the pride bandwagon and get this fixed.

Cold Stream Creek should be stocked
It wasn't necessary to halt the stocking of trout in Cold Stream Creek.
All that stuff about protecting the wild trout that lived there is nonsense. Those wild trout have been living with stocked trout for years.
Obviously, stocking had little effect on the wild population if the numbers were high enough to make it a class A stream. How can they justify not stocking?
Stocked trout aren't worthy enough for some in the Fish and Boat Commission.
Centre and surrounding counties have plenty of Class A streams to satisfy their egos.
The schemers in the commission are up to something. My guess is they will try to get as many streams under this classification as possible.
The hidden agenda here is to make them open to fly fishing only. It was already proposed and voted on in a previous meeting.
How much recreation will be lost for the locals for years because of their actions?
Wild trout will never replace the recreation stocked trout provide or attract new anglers.
