A senior priest of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is marking a major milestone.

Monsignor Bernard Przybocki is celebrating the 65th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

A native of Barnesboro, Przybocki was ordained on May 24, 1958, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona.

Over the years, he served at St. Joseph Parish in Renovo, St. Casimir Parish in Johnstown and Sacred Heart Parish in Central City.

Przybocki was appointed pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and St. Richard Mission in 1967, an assignment that continued until 1974. He served as Pastor of St. John Cantius Parish in Windber from 1974-86, and pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Portage from 1986-95.

In 1995, he was named Pastor of St. Mary and St. Patrick parishes in Gallitzin. The parishes merged into St. Demetrius Parish, where he continued to serve as Pastor until his retirement in 2008.

Monsignor Przybocki currently resides at John Paul II Manor in Cresson.
