The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center did not err in approving a presentation delay until early next year regarding a long-anticipated facility and feasibility study. Because the study is so important to the school’s future and present, it must be carried out in a responsible, comprehensive manner, not haphazardly with questions and issues left incomplete and otherwise not fully addressed. The Oct. 21 Mirror article on the solar array installed at Prince Gallitzin raises way more questions than it answers. The article states that electric costs have dropped $90,000 while the array produced 827.8 MW since it was installed last year. The article further states that the array has a very short life span of only 20-years. How much did it cost to install? The article implies it will pay for itself, but I find that highly unlikely considering its 20-year life span. When are we, as Americans, going to wake up and take a stand against the unimaginable abuse of power emitting from the Trump administration. President Donald Trump has weaponized the DOJ and has made the Attorney General his own personal attorney. He is now on a tour of retribution towards anyone who he feels has failed the loyalty test. Mention the words “horse racing” and the words “triple crown” almost automatically come to mind. Fans of horse racing, both in terms of the races themselves and the wagering that they inspire, know that the Triple Crown events are the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes and that Triple Crown-winning 3-year-old thoroughbreds generally have been few and far between, although there have been exceptions, such as during the 1970s.
