A note for officials

1 min read

Dear nonincumbents running for office:

I'm going to give you the magic victory formula. Something never before done or considered in the history of American politics. Tell the public you don't care about what has gone on since the last election.

Tell us SPECIFICALLY what you're going to do to make things better when you get elected. That's it. Not complicated. No tired worn out phrases about job growth and killing inflation.

If you're an elected official, you spend every day telling everyone things are bad because of the person who held the seat before you.

If you're trying to get elected, you spend every waking moment digging up dirt, or finding some nasty quote from a hot mic from 20 years ago to win a couple votes.

Just stop. Please.

Here's another thing normal humans do. They admit they're not perfect and they'll make mistakes. How refreshing that would be to hear instead of excuses 24/7. Holding political office is hard. I make 20 mistakes before lunch every day. My dogs and wife still love me. You're welcome.
