President Donald Trump does not want a peace treaty, to negotiate, or an agreement with Iran. He demands what he calls a deal which is his way of stating that Iran must do what he wishes them to do.
Under Obama's Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiated in 2015, Iran agreed to reduce its nuclear program by capping enrichment at low levels, reshaping the Arak reactor so it could not produce weapons grade plutonium. Iran also agreed to dismantle or convert centrifuges and facilities into a peaceful nuclear program and allow an expanded IADA inspection and monitoring. Trump ended this agreement in his first term. Ergo the unnecessary war that the country is in at present.
Trump justified going to war as peace negotiations were ongoing and reported as making headway. Trump stated that Iran would not renounce nuclear ambitions and that they were developing long range missiles. He stated this without proof and has yet to produce any.
Trump's action of attacking Iran during ongoing negotiations is equivalent to a sneak attack and he did so without congressional approval for war.
Now we are paying the economic cost for Trump's War.
