Perhaps nowhere was the blind spot of the Right toward President Donald Trump on such full display as it was at the religious gathering in D.C. on May 17 where a MAGA radio host said the man was “raised by God” to construct a new White House ballroom.

If you believe in God, how can you believe He would “raise” such a vile human being to do anything?

This is the epitome of blind love, a real and dangerous condition that cripples the brain’s critical thinking and social judgment centers. Sufferers can’t see or they choose to ignore flaws and negative traits, no matter how obvious they may be or how often they’re pointed out.

Combating it requires replacing idealized fantasies and focusing on actions rather than words. Not much hope of that, considering the blatant evidence already being ignored, like:

— Calling himself the “Peace President,” then renaming the Department of Defense the Department of War and killing thousands, including schoolchildren, in an inexplicable war.

— Saying American tax dollars are being stolen and wasted, then stealing and wasting billions himself.

— Promising to put working Americans first, then causing wages to fall behind the cost of living for the first time in two years. Can’t blame Biden for that one.

So, MAGA faithful, show you love him by kissing his … whatever you want … but for God’s sake, get a room! You embarrass yourself with these idiotic public displays of affection.
