The quest for fair, just representation

Gerrymandering is cheating. Cheating has no place of honor in private lives or the Pennsylvania Legislature. FairDistrictsPA is lobbying for passage of HB31 and SB131 to amend the PA Constitution to establish an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission in the quest for fair and just representation.

A well vetted Independent Citizens Commission will provide balance to the process and job of governance by eliminating partisan power to gerrymander.

With my limited depth of knowledge and understanding it appears PA State Senator Laughlin’s proposal for a “fancy football type draft” for redistricting still allows Legislators to pick their voters without accountability to voters.

I see the need and opportunity to change the whole scenario by identifying those elected to the Legislature as Employees; and we the people as Employers. We must no longer turn government over to employees who, through years of gerrymandering and behind closed door tactics, have created a pay scale, benefit package, cost of living provision, security in retirement while denying consistently fair and just representation of their employers; so dependent … and in need of sharing … “common-wealth” of PA in matters of public health well-being and safety.

An Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission will put citizens in the process and end partisan gerrymandering.

Six PA Legislators have power to move HB31 and SB131 to a timely hearing and vote this session: Senator Dush (824-355-0477) Senator Kim Ward (724-600-7002) Senator Pittman (724-357-0151), Representative McClinton (215-748-6712), Representative Bradford (717-772-2572), Representative Hill-Evans ((717-848-9594). Staff taking calls are very courteous sharing roles of Employer-Employee.
