It could be argued that being a school board member is one of the most important positions in the country.
The future of our nation rests within our schools and the boards have controlling power over those futures.
At the very least, the boards should provide guidance that fosters adherence to democratic principles, yet we have board members and board candidates who actively spurn the First Amendment, which guarantees free speech.
The shame should be placed on free speech deniers, not those who exercise that speech.
Ironically, in the local example of free speech denial, the opinion of the persecuted is shared by at least half our nation as well as the majority of citizens of most developed nations.
So we have not only abrogation of rights, but also the stifling of honest opinions.
Please consider these issues when choosing or supporting your local school boards.
