I’m writing today not just as a community member, but as someone who has had the privilege of knowing Lou Schmitt personally for many years. As a friend, I’ve seen firsthand the integrity, fairness and compassion that he brings to life’s sometimes difficult decisions.

Lou is the kind of person who listens with an open mind, weighs decisions carefully and always seeks to do what is right — not just what is easy. These qualities aren’t just admirable in a friend — they’re essential in a judge. And that’s exactly why I have complete confidence in his service to our community.

I believe we need more leaders like Lou Schmitt: thoughtful, grounded and deeply committed to our community. I hope others in our community will join me in recognizing and supporting the important work Lou has been doing every day.
