Energy tax credits good for everyone

I received a shock when the cost of heating my home nearly doubled a couple of years ago. My home was previously heated by oil, and when gas prices rose significantly, we saw the impact inefficient heating and varying gas prices could have on our budget.

We upgraded to heat pumps, receiving a 30% energy efficient tax credit. Now, we rely on heat pumps for the majority of heating and cooling, saving an estimated $200-300 a month on energy bills.

Since heat pumps are the most efficient source of heat for our home, we’re using less energy and sending fewer toxins into the atmosphere.

As an evangelical Christian, I care deeply about the health of God’s children. As a mother, I want to do everything I can to keep my kids safe and healthy.

Having a source of heat that uses less energy helps keep the air we breathe and the water we drink purer and safer.

Thousands of Pennsylvania families have benefited from these tax credits and energy efficient upgrades.

There are attempts in Congress to take away these tax credits that save money, have bipartisan support, provide local careers, keep America an energy leader and give children a healthy future.

Now is not the time to strip away clean energy tax credits that are providing households with substantial energy savings while creating cleaner, safer air for our communities.

We are calling on our policymakers to stand strong and defend these benefits today.
