Political, social media environment volatile

For those of us who understandably don’t keep up with current events, I’m here to catch you up.

It’s March 2025 and the political environment is as volatile as it’s ever been.

The Information Age turned into the information overload age, with the only people who want to talk to you are probably scammers or sales people.

Apparently the majority of voters get their information off the internet, where anyone can say anything they want with no truth or integrity involved, and don’t even believe the evening news that’s reliably been informing the average person with true journalism for a century.

These are unprecedented times with the internet largely responsible for it. The social media owners say they want to protect free speech by letting anyone post anything, no matter how vile or heinous.

It’s no surprise as the most disgusting posts get the most views and the highest advertisement revenue for the social media platform.

Sadly, this means any information on the internet can be total fantasy and the wilder it is the more popular it will become with the truth nowhere in sight.

All media can make mistakes, but the difference between social media and the news is the news has to be truthful to stay in business because integrity is everything to a respectable news outlet that relies on product advertising. Advertisers won’t pay for advertising on a news outlet that’s intentionally misleading or biased.

On social media, anyone in the world can make any statement they want about any subject or other person with no consequences to themselves.
