Silence is not golden

2 min read

A bit more than a week ago I sent the following to John Joyce, Wayne Langerholc and Judy Ward seeking comment. I received a reply about purchasing flags from Joyce and Langerholc's newsletter.

I was interested in if they supported the actions which will cause millions of individuals to lose ACA coverage, including Pennsylvanians. This seems small in regards to the current coup by Elon Musk and Donald Trump, but it is one more piece of the puzzle as to election consequences.

On Jan. 15, the Kaiser Family Foundation, an independent health policy center reported the following:

In 2020, when Donald Trump left office there were 27.4 million enrollees in the ACA, Obamacare. In 2024, when Joe Biden left office, there were

44.1 million enrollees. Seventeen million had gained insurance coverage. Thirteen states doubled or tripled the number of enrollees, all Red States who voted for Donald Trump: KS (100% increase), NE, FL, AL, SD, SC, TN, GA, NC, MS, TX, OK, MO (243% increase).

In Pennsylvania, 13.6% are enrolled in the ACA, a 24% increase. The smaller increase is because many had already enrolled.

On Jan 20, Trump rescinded Biden's Executive order No. 14009. This order led to the dramatic increase in ACA enrollees since 2020.

As Fox News stated: This action ... restored the federal program "to the way it was before Trump became president" the first time around.

Clearly, the states to be hit hardest by this change are the 13 and more Trump voting states. Comparatively, Pennsylvania will not get hit as hard. But there are 17 million individuals, including many Pennsylvanians, now likely subject to losing insurance coverage.

Just one of many acts to help the American people and America to become great again. What a joke.
