Things were not better under Trump
Donald Trump supporters keep saying that everything was better under Trump. But I would like to know exactly what they are talking about. The truth is, things have been better under Joe Biden by virtually every measure.
The unemployment rate under Trump before the pandemic got down to 3.5%. It is now 3.4%. And unemployment rates for Hispanic workers, Black workers, women, and people with disabilities have all hit record lows under Biden.
Biden beats Trump at job gains, too. Before COVID, Trump was averaging 176,000 new jobs a month over three years. Over that same time, Biden’s monthly average is 400,000.
Biden also beats Trump by a lot on GDP, and also infrastructure and insulin prices.
Gas prices and groceries were lower during the worst of the pandemic.
But inflation spiked all around the world and prices for goods went up all over the world as we came out of it. Thanks to the Biden administration, inflation is falling and gas prices have lowered. The fact that some goods are still too expensive has nothing to do with Biden and everything to do with corporate greed.
Trump made billionaires a fortune. But he did not do anything for the rest of us. Thanks to his tax scam for the rich, we are saddled with an additional $8 trillion of debt.
No, things were not better under Trump. Things were not more peaceful. We were not more united. The economy was not stronger, and he did not “make America great again.”
If you think things just “felt better” under Trump, what you really mean is that Trump gave you permission to hate. He hated the same people you hate. But the truth is, nothing was better under Trump. Nothing.
