New Hollidaysburg board should pick next super

I am writing to express my concern about the process for selecting a new superintendent for Hollidaysburg Area School District.

Since the superintendent will be working under the new board in the future on all issues concerning the community, it is essential that new members participate in the selection process.

The public should be notified of the criteria for the new position.

The public has a right to know who is being considered and why.

An interim superintendent should be appointed when Dr. Robert Gildea officially leaves.

This will ensure that the new board has plenty of time to screen the candidates and make a thoughtful decision.

A candidate from another district without ties to this area would be the best choice, so that principles can be placed before nepotism.

We cannot rush this process. It is an important decision that will affect the future education of our children.
