First, I want to say that I enjoyed Ann Roland's letter.
It made so much sense. Like her, I, too, am dumbfounded by the GOP. They claim to support the police but yet they, followers of the GOP beat the hell out of the Capitol Police and now want to defund the FBI.
To show you who has been working for you in Washington, I see that President Biden and the Democrats passed the Reconstruction Bill.
The main features of this bill will mean we have better roads, safer bridges, farmers and those in rural areas will be getting internet services.
But remember, the Republican Party voted no to this bill.
Also, the Democrats tried to pass the Burn Pit Bill. This would provide medical and monetary services to those veterans that were exposed to these toxic burn pits.
Of course, the Republicans voted no on this bill and even celebrated their negative votes with fist bumps. But, after much publicity and pressure from veteran's groups, the Republicans changed their minds as they feared they would lose many votes.
And now there is the Inflation Reduction Act. This bill will enable Medicare to lower prices on some drugs. It also has a provision that ensures that the wealthy will pay their fair share of taxes.
Those wealthy corporations, banks and individuals will have to pay a minimum of 15%. This bill also has provisions to cut greenhouse gases to help stabilize out environment. Don't you think that this bill contains many positive objectives? But, yes but, the Republicans voted no again.
Do you remember the major accomplishment of the Trump administration? It was the several trillion-tax cut for the billionaires, millionaires and wealthy corporations.
Recently Biden signed a bill that would help support the computer chip industry. This president is bringing manufacturing back to the USA.
Immediately, several large computer chip companies stated their intent to invest billions of dollars in manufacturing facilities in Ohio and New York. Lest we not forget, 500,000 new jobs were added to the economy last month.
And the inflation rate for July was flat, a zero.
So, I ask, who are the Republicans truly representing? Who are they working for? To me it sounds like they prefer to work for special interests. Shouldn't the politicians work for the welfare of all the citizens?
Why don't you ask your local Republican representative and senator about these facts.
It seems to me that they (the local GOP) have been very quiet about all this positive news.
