Patient Safety Act needs to be priority

Help us, help you.

The need for safe nurse-to-patient ratios has reached an all-time high.

Patients are suffering due to delays in care, developing hospital acquired infections, and mortality rates are rising.

Studies show, for every one less nurse not included in a shift, patients are 14% more likely to experience in-hospital mortality.

I have experienced, firsthand, the horrors of unsafe nurse-to-patient ratios. It always ends negatively for the patients and nurses.

Nursing burnout has been increasing over the decades, rising by 60-70%.

Burnout results from emotional distress and physical exhaustion as a direct result of unsafe staffing.

In a state of burnout, nurses are more likely to make errors in patient care, which can be life threatening.

The patients suffering can be your mother, father, child or even you.

Nurses need your support to combat this issue. We want the best for our patients, but we cannot change the current circumstances alone.

Please, reach out to your local and state legislators to voice your concern regarding unsafe staffing ratios and get the Patient Safety Act out of committee.
