There’s consequences to political decisions

My only requirements of those that represent me be it at the federal, state or local levels of government are evidence-based facts and truth.

The Republican party, however, has a more than willing component that has supported, accepted or enabled the unfounded conspiracy theories, misinformation, and lies that have been spread on conservative media which have no basis in facts and truth.

Members of the Republican party are comfortable with facts and truth being defined as “fake news.”

President Donald Trump and his enablers were determined to destroy any Republican having the courage to speak the truth.

It’s been two-plus weeks since an armed insurrectionist riot, inflamed by the lie that the presidential election was stolen, incited by Trump and a large number of Republican-elected officials, led to death and destruction inside the U.S. Capitol building.

These Republican officials, sadly, include U.S. Rep. John Joyce, State Senator Judy Ward, and state representatives Jim Gregory and Lou Schmitt, who have persistently given voice to the lie by repeatedly calling into question, without evidence, Pennsylvania’s 2020 election.

Joyce and all our local state representatives believe their comments are without consequences and are sadly mistaken.

This show could just possibly end up at a state capital near you. Their enabling of the lie did not define any of them as a patriot or a fighter for freedom, justice or the citizens they represent.

They have only determined to own a place in American history among those who would betray their trust by giving voice to those who would overthrow democracy.

For attempts to cast doubt and overturn a certified election and create a climate that would lead to insurrectionist acts, for failure to defend our democracy, our constitution, and place their oath above their political party and President Trump, know choices can have consequences that require accountability.

They should resign from elected office.
