Ronald N. Nearhoof, 81, of Sinking Valley, passed away Wednesday. He was born in Philipsburg, the son of the late Mary Nearhoof. On April 7, 1964, in Reedsville, he married Linda Fleck, who survives. Also surviving are three children: Ronald N. Nearhoof II, Timothy S. (Jennifer) Nearhoof and Kathy J. (Jason) Rockwell; grandchildren: Tess M. and Timothy S. John F. Papotto, 63, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Hastings, the son of the late Joseph and Janet (Bilko) Papotto. John graduated from Altoona Area High School and went on to earn a degree from Penn State University. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. John enjoyed gardening, bird watching and hiking. Shirley A. Sandrus, 82, of Altoona, died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon at her residence. She was born in Greenville, Miss., a daughter of the late Dilemma and Alma (Mangialardi) Strazi. She married Jack E. Sandrus on June 22, 1963, in Greenville, Miss. Surviving are her husband, Jack; her dog, Baby; two daughters, Kristina A. Hauser (Jim) and Lori A. Vincent E. Baker Sr., 87, Flinton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday at his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Vincent A. and Julia (Crockhill) Baker. On June 20, 1964, he married Flora Antrilli in McKeesport. Vincent was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a utility serviceman from Equitable Gas Co. after 30 years of service. Florence J. Brown

Florence J. Brown, 89, formerly of Altoona, died Thursday at Maple Heights Health & Rehab, Ebensburg. She was born in Claysburg, daughter of the late William and Ida (Dively) Weyandt. Surviving are two children, William F. Brown (Beth) and Susan Brown, both of Altoona; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; a son, Russell; and all 14 of her siblings. All services will be private. Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.
