Sharon Lucille (Phillips) Cook, 82, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, after a long illness. She was born in Elkins, W.Va., the daughter of Charles and Millicent Phillips, and a 1961 graduate of Elkins High School.

On Oct. 27, 1962, she married Emmett Cook, whom she first met while attending Elkins High School. Their marriage recently celebrated its 64th anniversary and was marked by faith, devotion and a deep love for family.

Sharon retired as a registered nurse in Altoona, where she worked in outpatient mental health services. Throughout her nursing career, she touched countless lives through her compassion, professionalism and genuine concern for those in her care.

She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, creating floral arrangements, traveling and caring for animals, especially the golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers she loved throughout her life. As the wife of a United States Air Force service member, she embraced opportunities to live in and travel to many parts of the world.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sharon served faithfully in numerous callings and treasured her service as an ordinance worker in the Washington, D.C., Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Millicent Phillips; and by her sisters, Charlotte Arbogast and Sandra DeGross.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Emmett Cook; her sons, Michael Cook (Lia) of Monongahela, Pa., and Matthew Cook of Salisbury, Md.; nine grandchildren: Andrew (Chelsea), Adam (Nicole), Jacob, McKenna, Mallory Jeffer (Stephen), Elise, Emma, Audrey and Claire; two great-grand-children; and many other relatives and friends.

Above all, Sharon will be remembered for her love of family, her compassionate heart, her unwavering faith and her generous spirit. The years shared with Sharon were among life's greatest blessings, and her love will always be carried in the hearts of her family and friends.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 778 Brush Mountain Road, Hollidaysburg. Interment will follow at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
