Rosemary Sue Ellis, 69, Altoona, passed away Saturday.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Kenneth Lou and Margaret T. (Caporuscio) Ellis.
Surviving are brothers: Robert Ellis, Ned Ellis and Randy Loose; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Cindy Lou Ellis Marzano Given; her parents; and grandparents, Ned and Margaret Caporuscio, for whom she was a caregiver.
Rosemary was a graduate of Glassboro State College, Glassboro, N.J., with a degree in communications and journalism. She was a reporter and feature writer for The Press of Atlantic City for 10 years. She won journalism awards from the Philadelphia Press Association, The New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists and the N.J. Division of Youth and Family Services. She was the author and publisher of The Bible Diet: 40 Days to Cleanliness. She also produced and hosted the monthly program, "Food for Thought" on Altoona Public Access Channel 14 for six years. She had worked for the Blair County Convention Center and the Jaffa Shrine. Most recently, she was a substitute teacher at Altoona Area High School. She was a member of East End United Methodist Church and Friends of Canoe Creek State Park.
She loved spending time in nature. She enjoyed swimming, surfing, kayaking and hiking. Having grown up at the Jersey shore, Rosemary loved the beach and boardwalk. She enjoyed visiting lakes, rivers and waterfalls at state parks in Pennsylvania and New York. She also had an extensive vegetable and flower garden. She loved to read and collected many books over the years.
Rosemary requested that friends and loved ones read Psalm 23 in her memory. Cremains will be released at the Jersey shore at a later date.
