Przemyslaw Piotr Smolarczyk, MD, affectionately known as Przemek or Peter, passed away on Sept. 10, 2026, at the age of 69. A resident of Altoona, Przemek was a dedicated physician, a devoted father and a cherished grandfather.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, Przemek completed his medical degree at the University of Warsaw. After moving to the United States, he completed an internal medicine residency, and an anesthesia residency. He was also an emergency medicine physician and board-certified in transesophageal echocardiography and pediatric anesthesiology. He was known for his calm demeanor in high-pressure situations, and compassionate patient care.
Beyond his professional achievements, Przemek's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his three children: Sylvia, Marta and Alex; as well as his six beloved grandchildren.
His funeral will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Victory Church in State College. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church, where family and friends are welcome to gather and share fond memories.
