JoAnn V. Bailey, 83, of Bellwood, died unexpectedly on Thursday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Punxsutawney, daughter of the late Edward J. and Mary (Gresock) Skarbek.
She married Donald Paul Bailey on June 25, 1966, in Adrian. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2016.
Surviving are two children, Shawn Bailey (Suzanne) of Mechanicsburg and Missy Tonkin (Kent) of Altoona; a daughter-in-law, Melissa David Bailey of Huntingdon; four grandchildren: Maddy, Ira, Finn and Holden Bailey; four =siblings: Ed (Deb), Ken and Nick Skarbek and Christine Miller (Bill); two sisters-in-law, Lorna Laska and Kay Roseman; and her beloved kitties: Buddy, Mel and Georgie. JoAnn was also looking forward to meeting her new great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, Raife Paul Bailey; and her brothers, John and Mike Skarbek.
JoAnn was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellwood and was on the swim team at The Summit.
She was very artistic and enjoyed photography, sewing and quilting.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, at which time a funeral Mass will be celebrated with Father Mike Pleva, Celebrant. Interment will take place at Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.
