James A. ‘Jim’ Morrison

James A. "Jim" Morrison, 83, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Isabelle (Shaffer) and Alvin E. Morrison, who passed away during the war in 1943. Jim was raised by the late Thomas Murphy.

On July 31, 1965, he married Joy Parisi at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Altoona. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2025.

Jim is survived by his three children: Jackie (Jeff) Hazlett, James (Christine) Morrison and Jeanie (Scott) Stirk; three grandchildren: Devon Morrison and Emilee and Tyler Stirk; four siblings: Thomas (Lorraine) Murphy, John (Linda) Murphy, Denny (Robyn) Murphy and Patty Graffius; several nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, William and Michael (Martha) Parisi.

Jim was a graduate of Altoona High School and proudly served as a Seabee in the United States Navy. He worked as an electrician for Neff Electric and later retired as the superintendent of maintenance at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the lottery and shopping at the Amish markets.

At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Annville.
