David P. Barr, 86, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at Homewood Living Martinsburg. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Chalmers and Margaret (Smith) Barr.
Dave married Barbara A. Hazenstab on July 6, 1968. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2024.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew L. Barr (Kristin) of Lewisburg and James T. Barr of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren: Brennen, Brock and Beatrix; and a sister, Nancy Ammerman.
David was a graduate of Altoona High School and attended Juniata College, receiving his bachelor's degree.
He retired as the Superintendent from the Altoona Water Authority.
Dave was a member of Jaggard United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed being a Mason and playing in the Hollidaysburg Alumni Band.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Hickok.
Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Altoona.
