Barbara A. ‘Auffy’ Ramsey

Barbara A. "Auffy" Ramsey, 82, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret E. (Little) Fields.

She married Daniel L. Ramsey on Aug. 21, 1965, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel; two children: daughter, Danielle L. Karns (Cory) of Mechanicsburg; and son, Eric L. Ramsey (Nina) of Altoona; three grandchildren: Meghan M. Gormish (Francis) of Altoona, Daniel M. Ramsey of Altoona and Spencer C. Karns of Mechanicsburg; three great-grandchildren: Giavanna, Luca and Brooks; and numerous extended family members.

Auffy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Ramsey was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.

She was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School.

Auffy retired as a van driver for the Altoona Area School District in 2016 after more than 40 years' service. She was presented a service award by the district for her long-time dedicated employment.

She enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, casino trips and traveling. Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed attending all their sporting and school events.

She was a member of the Dorcas Temple No. 129, Daughters of the Nile. She was also a life member of both the Bavarian Aid Society and the Heidelberg Country Club.

Auffy always made one feel as if they were a member of her family. She was a very loving, caring and welcoming soul. She always put the needs of others before her own. Auffy continually enjoyed having a good time, and she lived her life to its fullest measure.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Father Nelson Javier officiating.

Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
