Vaughn Roger Imler, 79, Claysburg, formerly of Bellwood, passed away on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at home with his beloved wife and Brittany Spaniel, Corky at his side.
He was the son of the late Grover Park Imler and the late Loretta Florence (Ickes) Imler. He was born in Bedford.
He was a member of the last class to graduate from Greenfield-Kimmel High School in June, 1964. He was the co-captain of the football team and a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He scored a safety in 1962 that secured the championship against Bellwood Antis. He earned an academic and football scholarship to Lafayette College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Vaughn worked his entire 37-year career at PPG's Tipton Plant. He retired as a project manager which led to his travels to Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Mexico, Canada and many cities in the USA. During his career he was awarded 11 patents.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He built his own camp in Potter County known as Five Daughters Lodge. He went on a cross-county motorcycle trip to Montana to hunt elk and fish. He also enjoyed nice cars, good food, doing Sudoku and hunting with his Brittany Spaniels.
Vaughn was a member of the Upper Claar Church where he held positions of treasurer, a member of the Witness Program, choir member and deacon. He volunteered at the Claysburg Food Bank, the Backpack Program and the Literacy Program. He also delivered Meals on Wheels.
He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (Tootsie) Metzgar, on June 5, 1964. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They are the parents of Kim of Johnstown, Lori of Duncansville, Erin of Lake Terrace, Calif. and Vicki of Claysburg and they are grandparents of Morgan, Cory, Ashley, Sammie Jo and Dominick Adragna, Cookie Davis and Rashid. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joye Metzgar.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi Jo Adragna; her husband Frank; and his brother-in-law, Charles "Butch" Metzgar.
A private service will be held. Interment will be in Claar Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Claysburg Food Bank, P.O. Box 167, Claysburg, PA 16625.
