Sharon (Nycum) Brumbaugh, 82, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday in Tyrone. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ray and Margaret (Brown) Nycum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Brumbaugh; her brother, Ray; and sister-in-law, Susan.
Surviving are her son, Craig (Claudine) of Brea, Calif.; and daughter, Lori (Darren Crabtree) of Hollidaysburg. Sharon is also survived by five grandsons: Drew, Ryan, Brandon (Sierra) Brumbaugh and Timothy (Mara) and Jacob Crabtree; a granddaughter, Tori Crabtree (Mason Burget); and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Natalie Crabtree.
Sharon was a graduate of Altoona High School and after graduation was employed by Bell Telephone.
Sharon and Clair started their family in Pittsburgh with additional moves to New Jersey and eventually Fullerton, Calif., where they resided for more than 40 years. Sharon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sharon was a Christian and faithfully worked in the church's nursery and library. Her charitable work included volunteering for the Children's League of Fullerton, where she held the position of president for several years.
During their time in California, Sharon became an accomplished tennis player, winning numerous Senior Level championships at her local tennis club.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Altoona Full Gospel Church, 120 Rosswell St., Altoona.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
