Martin L. ‘Chip’ Brumbaugh

Martin L. "Chip" Brumbaugh, 67, Curryville, passed away Saturday at his residence.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of Donald and Doris (Showalter) Brumbaugh.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Diane (Burket) Brumbaugh; a son, Nicholas Burket (Kaci); a daughter, Tara McQuillen (Jake); a son, Andrew Brumbaugh (Cara); grandsons: John Wolfe, August Burket and Sonny McQuillen; his parents, Donald and Doris Brumbaugh; a brother, Dennis Brumbaugh (Teresa); a sister, Nancy Barnett (Ronald); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arlan Brumbaugh and wife, Barbara.

While attending Central High School, Chip began his career as a milk tester with DHIA in Blair and Bedford counties. When the area was in need of a hoof trimmer, he started Chip's Hoofin' and Haulin', serving the farms of the Cove and surrounding counties. While still trimming hoofs and hauling cows, he began work at Appleton Papers in November 1990. He retired as the last senior boiler operator at Appvion Paper after 31 years.

Chip was a lifetime member of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company and Friendship Fire Company. He was a collector of antique fire trucks, dairy and agriculture antiques. He was active in supporting local 4-H and FFA programs. He was an avid Pitt Panthers fan and season ticket holder. Chip attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the church, Pastor Ryan Gephart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company #1 Inc., 205 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 434 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.

He was a man of few words, but known to all. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
