Mark A. Salisbury Sr., 71, of Altoona, died early Thursday morning at his home. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late James A. and Gertrude (Mallroy) Salisbury.
On Feb. 23, 1976, he married Jane E. Davis. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2006.
Surviving are his three children: Mark A. Jr., Mindy R. Hughes and Kimberly J. Clifford; eight grandchildren: Courtney, Dustin, Alyssa, Samantha, Jacob, Tia, Allyson and Derek; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Jim, Brian, Daniel, Susan, Amy and Melissa.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark A. III; and a brother, Pete.
Mark was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and Altoona Vocational Technical School. He retired as a master electrician at Krater Services, Altoona.
An avid hunter, he also loved going to casinos. Mark was a member of the NRA and a regular contributor to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
From 1981 to present, Mark was a proud member of Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, where he formerly served as fire chief. He was always ready and willing to help anyone who was in need.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Mark's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to special friends, more like family, Crindy and Pat Morningstar for always being there for us, whether hosting card parties, family reunions or New Year's Eve events; and to Davey and Sheila Ewing, for the many Super Bowl parties and spectacular 4th of July fireworks in Sinking Valley that Mark loved being part of.
To honor Mark's wishes, there will be no viewing, visitation or funeral services.
