Marie C. Petro, 86, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday evening at her residence. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Clair and Alma (Willnecker) Hoff.
Marie married Thomas Petro on April 22, 1961. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2023.
Surviving are her son, Thomas M. Petro of Indiana; and her daughter, Lynn M. Adams (Gene) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Halee Hutchinson (Laurence), Rylee and Macy Adams, T.J. and Nathan Petro; and a great-grandson, Alfee Hutchinson. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Kruise and Cindy Finelli, both of Altoona; and her sister-in-law, Erma DeBernardis.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Donald Hoff; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Hoff.
Marie was a 1958 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and retired as the Administrative Assistant from Bishop Guilfoyle High School.
She was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Marie enjoyed bowling, playing Bunco and volunteering at Van Zandt VA Medical Center. Most especially, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 Sixth Ave., Altoona, with Father John Lynam as celebrant.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
